American Association of Veterinarians of Indian Origin (AAVIO) life member Dr. Nagaraju Narala organized a free Rabies vaccination camps for pet dogs and cats in Shanti Nagar, Malakhpet and Sitarambagh veterinary hospitals in Hyderabad, India on February 15, 2020. Telangana state animal husbandry department Director Dr. V Lakshma Reddy, Additional director Dr. S Ramachandar, Hyderabad district Joint Director Dr. Parameshwar Redddy, Shantinagar Veterinary hospital Assistant Director Dr. Madhusudhan and Veterinarian Dr. Chandravati, hospital staff and Rajendra Nagar veterinary college students participated in this Rabies vaccination camp in Shanti Nagar. Director of animal husbandry addressed the owners about rising trend of pet ownership for securing premises and emotional support; increased attention to pet’s overall hygiene; higher risk of Rabies disease in free roaming dogs and cats. Therefore, periodic Rabies vaccination per your veterinarian recommendation is very importance part of protecting your pets and promote public health due to the risk of deadly Rabies disease transmission through animal bites. This event is facilitated by AAVIO by sponsoring 500 doses of Rabies vaccine free of cost through its partnership with Merck Animal Health.
